Compassion Compass: An ACT Intervention for Adults with  Dementia Diagnosis and Their Caregivers

Click Here to Complete a Screening and Enroll in the Study
We are recruiting for a research study at Utah State University (USU) that aims to test Compassion Compass, a new single-session mental health program designed for adults who have received a dementia diagnosis and their family or informal caregivers. If you are eligible and choose to participate, we will ask you to complete a brief screening survey and phone call. You will then complete a series of four surveys over the course of a month (approximately 10-25 minutes each), a phone/Zoom interview (approximately 30-45 minutes), and the Compassion Compass program (approximately 30-45 minutes).

If you choose to participate, each individual will each receive a $20 Amazon gift card after completing the Compassion Compass program and post-test survey, another $20 Amazon gift card for the phone/Zoom interview, and another $20 for both follow-up surveys (i.e., $10 for each survey).

In order to be eligible you must:
  • ≥ 18 years old
  • Currently live in the U.S.
  • Have received a dementia diagnosis within the past year OR be a caregiver; both of you (i.e., individual with dementia and their caregiver) must be interested in participating in this study.
  • Be fluent in reading English
  • Have an interest in using an online mental health intervention

This study is virtual and does not require any face-to-face contact. Our intention is to conduct research that promotes the well-being of adults with dementia and their caregivers.  The findings of this research will be published in an academic journal, and we intend to make the program available for others to use in the future.
