Telehealth for Health Anxiety in Adolescents Study

This study is now closed. If you have any questions please contact Julie Petersen at Juliana.Petersen@usu.edu.
We are currently seeking adolescents with health anxiety, along with their caretaker, for a research study to see if an online treatment for health anxiety can help. You might be interested in this study if your adolescent is struggling with health anxiety or worries a lot about getting sick.
 
Participation will involve:
  • Completing an initial online assessment and an interview via Zoom
  • Being randomly assigned to: receive a 10 session intervention via Zoom for health anxiety, or wait for 16 weeks before receiving the intervention
  • Completing four surveys over the course of 16 weeks

In order to be eligible you must:
  • Be ages 12-17
  • Live in Utah
  • Have some health anxiety
  • Fluent in English
  • Not be currently seeing a therapist for health anxiety
  • Be stabilized on any psychotropic medication

Please note that participation is completely up to you, and you can withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. You can receive up to $45 in Amazon gift cards for completing all surveys in the study. The total time commitment for the study is approximately 14 hours over 16 weeks.
